Privacy Policy

Overview

FileThrough is designed to process supported files locally in the browser. This policy describes how the extension handles information and the settings it stores.

Files You Process

Core image and PDF transformations are performed locally in the browser. The extension's processing pipeline reads the selected file, transforms it when required, validates the result, and replaces the file in the upload input.

FileThrough does not require a FileThrough server to receive the selected file for these operations.

Extension Settings

The extension uses browser extension storage for configuration such as:

  • Whether automatic processing is enabled.
  • Whether files should be automatically processed on upload pages.
  • A maximum file-size preference.
  • User-defined transformation plans.

Permissions

The current extension requests:

  • storage — for extension settings.
  • activeTab — for interaction with the active tab when extension functionality requires it.
  • downloads — for downloading the most recently processed file from the popup.
  • <all_urls> host access — so the content script can detect file-upload inputs on websites.

The current extension does not request the scripting permission.

Data Collection

The extension's core processing does not require an account, and the project does not describe a server-side file-processing service. The extension keeps its operational state in the browser rather than maintaining a remote account profile.

Third-Party Services

The extension's core processing is local. The public website may contain links to external services such as GitHub and the Chrome Web Store. Those services have their own privacy policies and terms.

Open Source

The source code is publicly available at github.com/vikasgupta1132/filethrough.

Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated when the extension's data handling or functionality changes. The date at the top of this page will be updated when material changes are made.
